BIOGRAPHY

Emre Acar was born in 1998 in Kastamonu, Turkey. He graduated in 2020 from the Department of Art Education at Ondokuz Mayıs University, having studied in the studio of Prof. Dr. İbrahim Halil Türker. He's currently pursuing a master’s degree in art education at the same university. With his work featured in various projects, the artist continues his artistic practice at his studio in Istanbul.
Artist Acar creates imaginative portraits that focus on faces and the emotional traces left by traumatic or negative memories, especially in the “void between dream and wakefulness.” Rather than representing physical reality, his works explore psychological and emotional states.
Drawing inspiration from nature, society, and everyday life, Acar mainly paints female portraits, treating them as “emotional landscapes” that reflect the psychological impact of contemporary global crises on individuals.
The women in his paintings appear strong on the surface, but cold background tones like blue and green reveal their vulnerability and emotional numbness. Through facial expressions, color intensity, shadow depth, and distorted spatial logic, Acar conveys universal emotions such as fear, anxiety, sorrow, and pain while leaving room for the viewer’s personal interpretation.
